Playground Re-visited

We went back to the fabulous playground that Scott and the boys went to the day Cora was born. It was a lot of fun. I even climbed the rock wall--sans Cora.

McCance the Baby Holder

My friend, Janet, and her daughter, Melanie (also McCance's friend), came over one evening and brought us a fabulous supper. They also took the opportunity to get some baby holding and loving in. Here are a few of Mel and Cora. The photo opp I missed was when I was changing Cora's diaper and Melanie watched the whole time with her fingers over her ears.

A week ago Thursday, we went to Atlanta to experience the (relatively) new Georgia Aquarium. Being from a family who is all about fish it was certainly exciting. Plus we got to go with a bunch of our co-op friends and their families. The boys watched their first 3-D movie, although I don't think they were that impressed.


We walked through the special exhibit about the Titanic, which has been something of great interest to Bradford for awhile.

Fishing

Bradford and Scott took an opportunity to go fishing again. They attended a fishing derby at a private pond and enjoyed their time, although the fish were not very hungry yet again. Bradford was the photographer for the morning though and returned with three excellent photos!

Field Day '09

Our homeschool co-op had field day at Memorial Park last Thursday. McCance was a bit little to participate, but he and several of his friends had a blast playing on the playscape. Bradford was hesitant, but I think in the end he enjoyed the relay races. (The not knowing what to expect aspect makes him nervous; he gets that from both his mom and dad.)

Cora's Quilts

We have a plethora of baby blankets, most of which are very special. Bradford and McCance both have a blanket that was mine. They also have several that are hand-knit and crocheted by some very special people. Here are three of Cora's quilts that fit this description. (Cora wasn't very cooperative for the photo session, only wanting to turn her head to her right.)

This lovely quilt was made especially for Cora by our dear friend, Barbara Wyatt.
The characters on the quilt include The Three Little Pigs,
Little Red Riding Hood, and The Frog Prince.

This quilt was made for Scott when he was a baby by a friend of the family. Every other square has hand-embroidery with a phrase from the prayer "Now I Lay Me Down To Sleep."

This is part of a quilt made by my grandmother, Bernice Page. My sweet aunt salvaged several portions of it and finished this one for Miss Cora. It is actually fairly unique in that Grandma Page mostly did patchwork-style quilts (simple squares)--at least in my time.

Look At These Longies!

A friend gifted these adorable, beautiful, hand-knitted, wool longies for Cora. Not only do they make colorful and bright pants, but being wool they are also a fabulous (cloth) diaper cover. Wool is antibacterial, naturally waterproof (due to the lanolin), breathable, and thermal (can store a lot of moisture yet remain dry to the touch). And contrary to that scratchy image wool might bring, these are super soft to the touch.
