McCance woke up before 6 on Friday. We went to the grocery store, played outside, walked to Scott's school and watch the Kindergartens do a "Motown Magic" performance--hence no nap--, and walked home with Scott, and played outside some more. He'd also managed to not nap on Wednesday. Around 6:15 p.m. as we were nearing the end of dinner, McCance asked for more, then proceeded to close his eyes and sleep--sitting up, head wobbling around the entire time. We took pictures and laughed then woke him to get him ready for bed. The kiddo was asleep in his bed at 6:35 p.m.
Now for the record, my mother tells me that when I was younger than he, I used to do that quite often. My dad would come home for lunch, and being a "daddy's girl" I was determined to stay awake to see him. But by the time we were eating, I fell asleep. Unlike McCance, apparently my face would often end up in my plate.

Wednesdays are library days for us. We have a routine where we go to the front desk first to return our books and movies that we have finished. Next we pick out 6 movies (the limit) even though we don't always get to them all. (I usually manage to stop at the new books section for a minute--not much more--to pick out a book for myself also.) Then we spend the most time in the children's section. Bradford heads for the Richard Scarry books and picks out several of those and then just explores. McCance likes to climb in and out of a little cubby space for awhile, then enjoys playing with the puppets or the wooden doll house. Usually the only reason we have so many children's books to read during the week is that I love picking them out--and so does Scott.
Last week we went after school so Scott could join us. We had the children's section nearly to ourselves. (In the mornings it's full of little ones there for storytime.) And Scott picked out nearly as many books as I did!
Some might call it music, but it was definitely joyful and most certainly noise, when the boys put together their own Jesus Loves Me band--a 2 drum band with two main vocalists. (No background involved.) And, obviously, they had a lot of fun.
Grandma Carole and Papa Terry stopped on their way home from a trip to Florida. While they were there they visited the space museum. Aunt Luella and Uncle CE sent some Astronaut Peaches and Strawberries. Bradford ate a few strawberries, but the true astronaut is going to be McCance. He thought this was his supper.
Chef Bradford and I tried our hand at making "Goldfish crackers". We all enjoyed them, but ours were snowmen, stars, and teddy bears, as well as squares when we got weary. We (read Alisa) mistakenly added double the oil at the end so we had to go back and double the whole recipe. They turned out more like plain wheat crackers, though we enjoyed them anyway.
The cable for the camera came in today's mail. We're back in the blogging business! First for the updates. . .
Obviously, I've taken a leave of absence. Why? Because I'm a very visual person and enjoy using pictures to help convey meaning, not to mention they just give you a fuller experience of what goes on here at this crazy, adventurous place. And, well, our card reader for our camera decided to go kaput. Couldn't find the receipt for the warranty, so yesterday I finally ordered the USB transfer cable for our camera. Therefore more entries and pictures will be forthcoming. I will try to force myself to make the entries without the pictures for now, but no promises.
