They're Sure Cute When They're Asleep

Caterpillar

The boys found a caterpillar. McCance became pretty attached. He even called him a "sweet caterpillar." I was impressed because he actually held and played with a "creepy crawly." I guess it was because it was furry. We'll be releasing him back into nature in a few minutes. I'm praying McCance won't be terribly upset.

Sprinkle Is Sprinkled Yet Again!

Thursday the boys and I joined two of my Soggy Granola friends (the name of my online moms group), who also live in the Athens area, for a playdate/lunch/celebration. There was Issac and McCance (both a bit over 3.5 years), Logan (a bit over 2.5 years), Bradford (6), and Jessie Mae, about 5 months. Once the preschoolers figured out the deal about taking turns/sharing (not an easy task--especially when there are some really cool trains and other vehicles!) we all had a lot of fun. The weather was perfect for some outside play and we all enjoyed our brunchy lunch. (Although McCance wasn't thrilled that I ate roasted garlic hummus!)
After lunch, Dawn and Stephanie went crazy with wonderful gifts for Sprinkle, many of them handmade. These women know how to knit and dye and pick adorable, soft diapers! I didn't include all of the clothes that Jessie Mae has passed onto Sprinkle, but they are sure wonderful too. I keep looking at these things and imagining them on Sprinkle. Could be any day now!Gorgeous flowers--for me!

Dawn's dye-ing expertise.
Better than Easter eggs!

handmade fleece pull-on cover, Tinkle Traps fitted diaper,
2 pair merino wool longies, crocheted bonnet,
wool cover (works like those baby gowns), and hand-knit socks!

37 Weeks and Counting

Easter Egg Hunt--St. James Style

The first place my boys headed--The Bouncy Castle!

McCance does his egg-hunting surprisingly leisurely.
Perhaps had he realized that there was candy inside he might've picked up speed!

Two silly boys--Bradford and Scott--wear their Easter baskets

Bradford's group is off to hunt eggs--in a herd!

The Great Realization: There is candy inside!

Bradford rides the beautiful Percheron--and confidently this year!

Goodbye "Easter Farm" until next year!

McCance's Finger Part II

McCance's smashed fingernail is nearly gone. He's already started to grow a new one. The old one continues to hang on for a bit longer. The finger does seem to be infected by the cuticle, so we might have to see the doctor yet. He's pretty fascinated about how his fingernail can bend backwards, but traumatized to hysterical about hydrogen peroxide foaming on his finger. We resorted to triple antibiotic instead. Again--these photos aren't for the faint at heart.

n-UPDATE--His nail fell off tonight. He was hysterical and wanted to glue his fingernail back on. Goes to show that a 3 1/2 year old is not truly logical since Scott had told him for days that it would happen, and he even talked about it happening. But when it did, it was traumatic.

We're going to have Dr. Baker look at it tomorrow. It's very infected, and he's concerned it might be cellulitis and need an antibiotic. (Thank you so much to Aunt-Dr. Stephanie!)

Bradford's Birthday Dinner

We went to Brett's, a local restaurant owned by a family in our homeschool co-op, for Bradford's birthday dinner. He enjoyed his favorite grilled cheese and a favorite treat--French fries and an ice cream sandwich.

McCance wasn't feeling 100%, so he fell asleep in the booth before eating anything.

We came home and put McCance to bed, then Bradford got to open a few more gifts. It was a pleasant and low-key evening. Despite his bored expression in the photo, he was finished with this book the next morning.
