The bittersweet taste of being home from vacation. Sleeping in your own bed, playing with your own toys, choosing your clothes from the closet. . . and then there's mowing the grass, cleaning the toilet, and having to put your clothes back in the closet. . . It's all good.
Our visit to Illinois started a bit rocky. Our cargo box locked on us--as in locked shut and unable to be opened with the latches. Thankfully it was nearly loaded at that point--and covered under warranty by Yakima. But we did have to make a short detour to Kirkwood, MO to get a new one. (If you are ever in the Kirkwood, Columbia, or Chesterfield area, check out The Alpine Shop. They are so helpful and have a store full of fabulous items.) Then, the next morning, as we were ready to back out of the driveway, the van didn't start. Our fabulous neighbor, Doug Brown, came over at 5:30 a.m. to jump us! We didn't turn off the van until we reached a Sears in Tennessee to be sure the battery had charged and didn't need to be replaced. And thankfully, it didn't.
But we made it. Finally.

What a terrible way to start...but at that point, you know that it can only get better. And, it sounds like it did. I can't wait to see more pictures and hear more stories. And, of course, see that girl walking. :)
