Last week we did a mini-unit study on Australia. Bradford's and McCance's friends' grandparents are going there in June, so we thought it would be fun to learn about the continent and country along with them. We read lots of books about Australia and thoroughly enjoyed the many animals and birds unique to Australia.(My favorite is the lyre bird.) On Friday morning we got together with our friends to do some more Australian learning. The boys made damper bread (in the oven though), boomerangs (notice how McCance is carefully painting the driveway), and kangaroo and duck-billed platypus animals. During the last craft session, Bradford and "Little Scott" also painted their faces to resemble Aboriginals.Monday, May 26, 2008
