The Tree Comes Down

Scott and I have some big home projects planned for 2010 in order to work towards our end goal of moving closer to family (in the Midwest). The first step was to have the tall pine that was two feet from our house/carport removed. Not an easy task since it was so close, but mighty fun to watch. Almost like watching the Lumberjack World Championships in my backyard. Thanks to Steve Brown and his hard-working men, the 100 foot tall tree that had to be removed branch by branch, each one being lowered by a rope, was removed, hauled away, and cleaned up by 7 p.m. that day. The guys didn't even stop for a lunch break.

The tree that was removed is the big one in the foreground. It was 100 feet tall.

This branch was removed from this adjacent tree so that the branches and pieces
of the other tree would have a space through which to be lowered.
(Apologies for having to turn sideways to view the video.)

This is Steve Brown ready to cut off another section to be lowered to the ground.
All the branches and part of the top had already been removed.

Just part of what was on the ground before it ended.

Scott and his dad installed some pretty spiffy soffit vents (as far as soffit vents go). We have roofers coming sometime this month, replacement windows by the end of the month, and sometime some more insulation in the attic. Other jobs are in the works.

We had some trees removed as well, not quite as neatly as yours was done but we did not have professionals. I like to call it my Nature Preserve Disaster. :-) However, my husband is working diligently to get it cleaned up. When my back heals, I'll be helping him! By the way, do you guys have a date set on when you are moving back? I'm excited for you, but disappointed as well. Sounds like you have lots of projects moving quickly! I pray it all goes smoothly and quickly for you!
