Midwest Tour--Day 8

It's so hard to leave our loving family each place we visit. At every stop it feels like we have only spoken yesterday even though there were several people we hadn't seen since our wedding 12 years ago! Even though we saw C.E., Luella, Sara, and Brenna at Thanksgiving last year, we hadn't been to visit them in Iowa since before we were married. But it was time to return to Lincoln to continue our visit with Grandma and Grandpa H. (Although not before performing a duet on Luella's piano.)

Notice the fire hydrant in C.E. and Luella's neighborhood. The rod protruding is for the firemen to find the hydrant in Iowa winters. C.E. and Luella's house is in the background.
On the way we picked up lunch at Avanti's in East Peoria. There is nothing like their pizza bread--and if the nitrates didn't give me migraines, I might have attempted to devour a Gondola--an old college "snack."

And here is a bit of our scenic Midwest drive.
